A victory for the Korean people

Dermot Hudson and Andy Brooks in Brixton
by New Worker correspondent

In July 1953 US imperialism signed an armistice ending the Korean war. The war began when the Americans and their lackeys attacked north Korea in June 1950. It ended with the USA beaten to a standstill by the Korean People’s Army and the Chinese volunteers on 27th  July 1953. But though the USA signed the armistice it never honoured the terms of the truce. It still refuses to normalise relations with the people’s government in the north and the Korean peninsula remains divided, with the south still occupied by thousands of US troops. And all of this was commemorated last weekend by Korean Friendship Association (KFA) campaigners in Brixton.
NCP leader Andy Brooks joined other comrades marking the 72nd anniversary of the Korean people in the Korean war at a south London community centre just a stone’s throw from Brixton station. In his opening remarks KFA Chair Dermot Hudson said “in today’s world we are seeing an increase in aggression and intervention by US imperialism and its proxies such as the Zionists so it is important to increase solidarity with People’s Korea, an anti-imperialist socialist country. We are here today to mark two important victories of People’s Korea against imperialism. Tomorrow July 27th is the 72nd anniversary of the victory against the US imperialists in the Fatherland Liberation War and in less than three weeks from now it will be the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese colonial rule on 15th August. Both victories were the fruit of the Juche idea and are associated with the leadership of President Kim Il Sung. Both are an example of a small country winning victory by its own efforts against overwhelming odds”.
And in his contribution Andy Brooks, the general secretary of the New Communist Party, recalled the great victory of the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War pointing out that the south Korean troops in the war were reduced to the role of ancillaries and servants for the Americans and their lackeys flying the false flag of the United Nations to cover their criminal aggression.
The speeches were followed by a Q & A session which sparked off an interesting discussion about the DPR Korea’s policies on Palestine and Israel and questions about building solidarity with People’s Korea across London and throughout the country.

Korea on the Mersey!

by New Worker correspondent

Korean solidarity campaigners returned to the Casa Bar in the heart of Liverpool’s university district last week to hear a report from Dermot Hudson about what he saw in the DPR Korea when he was there in April.
Peter Hendy from the Liverpool NCP introduced the meeting saying that “imperialist aggression towards the DPRK continues to intensify with an escalation of lies and threats, A new propaganda offensive has been unleashed to justify US military aggression...for over six decades The DPRK has been subjected To US military intimidation, provocations, threats and extensive sanctions to politically isolate and destroy the DPRK economy. The US war-mongers want to destroy the DPRK”.
Dermot Hudson then demolished false reports about the DPRK and Ukraine saying that “It is also necessary to comment on the wild stories being floated in the mainstream media about the troops of the Korean People’s Army being in Ukraine. Neither Russia nor the DPRK have officially confirmed the despatch of KPA soldiers to Ukraine. Indeed DPRK vice-foreign minister Kim Jong Gyu on the 25th October described it as a “rumour”.
He also denounced the visit of the new British Foreign Secretary Lammy to south Korea and the hostile policy of the British government towards People’s Korea. Dermot Hudson explained that the British authorities are joining hands with the US imperialists and south Korean puppets to overthrow the socialist system of the DPRK and also detailed the threats to the DPRK from US imperialism and the ROK puppet regime.
As to tales of " human rights violations " , the DPRK actually has a fairly minimal police presence compared to many other countries . The police only direct traffic. The situation seemed quite normal. That is the reality of People’s Korea , an advanced socialist society with free housing, free health care and free education. We must redouble our efforts to defend People’s Korea with No Ifs or Buts!”

Yoon not welcome here!

by New Worker correspondent

NCP leader Andy Brooks joined Korean solidarity campaigners protesting outside the south Korean embassy in London on Tuesday. Called by the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) the picketers were protesting at the presence of puppet south Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol who landed in Britain on Monday for talks with the British government.
Addressing the picket  KFA Chairman Dermot Hudson said “Yoon is a cringeworthy puppet of the US who even sang the song American Pie  to the senile US President  'Sleepy Joe' Biden!
“South Korea itself is not a real country but a puppet regime created by US bayonets in 1945 .Since the 1940s south Korea has been ruled by successive fascist dictators such as Syngham Rhee , Park Chung Hee , Chun Do Hwan and now Yoon Suk Yeol. Many massacres were carried out such as the Jeju Island massacre (1948) which saw the deaths of 70,000 or 80,000 , the Bodo League massacre 1950  in which 200,000 people were killed and the Kwangju massacre of 1980 which saw 5,000 people slaughtered.
“Today , south Korea has the longest working hours in the world and and one of the highest suicide rates . This is the grim reality of the so-called 'human rights paradise' praised by the Western mainstream media”.

Stand by Democratic Korea!

by New Worker correspondent

NCP leader Andy Brooks joined Korean solidarity activists outside the new American embassy in Nine Elms on Saturday to demand an end to US imperialism’s occupation of south Korea. Called by the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) the protest called for an end to the imperialist sanctions regime against the DPR Korea and called for a halt to the annual US war-games in south Korea. KFA Chair Dermot Hudson denounced the Pacific Dragon and Ulji Freedom Shield exercises saying that the "Ulji Freedom Shield has nothing to do with freedom but everything to do with regime change; thereby extending the corrupt fascist rule of the south Korean puppets to the northern half of Korea and with establishing US imperialist colonial rule over the whole of the Korean peninsula and achieving the US domination of Asia and the Pacific".
